A notebook for strategy, data, / and the box score.
박재형 — KAIST BTM + Computer Science. I read companies the way I read game logs: slowly, with too many tabs open. This site is the working draft.
A double-major built around the same question.
BTM teaches how firms decide; CS teaches how to ask data the same question and get an answer back. I spend most of my time in the overlap — and a non-trivial fraction of it on baseball.

Education
- KAIST · B.S. in Business & Technology Management + Computer Science2018 — 2026 (expected)
- Coursework: corporate strategy, applied econometrics, ML systems, microeconomics, algorithms.
Interests
- · Corporate strategy — pricing, moats, capital allocation
- · Data analysis — small-sample inference, tidy pipelines
- · Baseball analytics — KBO mostly, MLB by reference
- · Economics — monetary policy, labor markets
Stack
Things I built to answer a specific question.
Mostly toys. A few have grown into something I keep reaching for.
KBO Park Factor Recalc
Re-estimating Korean baseball park factors with hierarchical Bayesian shrinkage. Comparing against the league's quoted multipliers.
Strategy Memo Workbench
Lightweight MDX + d3 stack for shipping case-style strategy memos with embedded charts. Built for BTM coursework.
Macro Dashboard
Personal dashboard pulling BOK, FRED, and OECD series. Tracks the indicators I actually re-check weekly.
Lineup Optimizer (toy)
Linear-programming take on KBO lineup construction given handedness splits. Mostly an excuse to learn PuLP.
Working notes.
Long-form drafts on baseball, strategy, and macro. Written for one reader (me, two months from now) and posted in case you're a similar person.

Park factors are lying to you (a little)
Why the standard 100-centered park factor is a noisy estimator for KBO's small sample, and what a partial-pooling fix looks like.

A reading list for BTM strategy, ranked by what stuck
Course readings I actually reach for a year later, vs. the ones that vanished after the final. Notes on why.

BOK vs. Fed in 2026 — the divergence I'm watching
Real-rate spread, FX pass-through, and what the housing-debt overhang means for how much room the BOK actually has.
economics
I read everything that lands in this inbox.
Open to strategy & analyst roles, baseball-data projects, or a coffee in Daejeon / Seoul. Bring a question.
